Here's a look at some of the notable productions from Trailer Park's stage life, from its first professional premiere in 2005 to the present.

September 27, 2005 The off-broadway premiere at Dodger Stages in New York, NY.



The original cast featured: Linda Hart (Betty), Marya Grandy (Linoleum), Leslie Kritzer (Pickles), Shuler Hensley (Norbert), Kaitlin Hopkins (Jeannie), Orfeh (Pippi) and Wayne Wilcox (Duke). 
The Associated Press singled out the “bouncy, appealing score, delivered by a powerhouse cast that gets every ounce of twang and corn pone out of David Nehl's down-home music and surprisingly witty lyrics."

June 2006 - The US regional premiere at the Hippodrome State Theatre in Gainesville, FL.

The most successful show at the Hippodrome, a spokesperson for the theatre said “[t]his musical has broken box office records… selling more tickets than any other summer musical.”

March 2007 This production at the WaterTower Theatre in Addison, Texas was so popular that it ran again later that season in September.

“Mr. Nehls has combined country and Broadway styles to create a really interesting score supporting all those dirty jokes.”

January 2008 - The first national tour began at the Bing Crosby Theater in Spokane, WA.

“This national touring company delivers what the title promises: An endless stream of redneck jokes, big hair and low-rent good fun.” – Spokesman Review

June 2008 - Off Broadway Theatre’s production in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
“[I]f you're in the mood for some off-beat humour, over-the-top antics and choreographed dancing and singing, then this musical is a must-see.” – Star Phoenix

July 2008 - The first European premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, followed by a run in Birmingham.

The Birmingham Evening Mail described it as “[a]n irresistible evening of stateside trash… [this] hilarious piece of unpretentious theatre by David Nehls and Betsy Kelso has developed a cult following in America.”

May 2009 - Production by San Jose Stage Company in San Jose, CA.

The San Jose Mercury News called the show a “high-spirited celebration of the low-rent life… [with] dialogue [that] pops like a firecracker.”

November 2009 - Street Theatre Company in Nashville, TN.

“I'm still laughing about the wonderful performances, the terrific songs and the hilarious lyrics.” - Broadway World

January 2010 - Arizona Onstage Productions in Tucson, AZ presented Trailer Park in a unique way as the worlds first scratch ‘n’ sniff musical.

You’ll find yourself “squealing with laughter at this musical that jumps with pop references, four-letter words, big hair and even bigger hearts.” - Arizona Daily Star

April 2010 - The New England premiere by the SpeakEasy Stage Company in Boston, MA.

The Patriot Ledger praised the score, which “ combines country ballads with Motown rhythms in a mélange of pop culture that manages to spoof Broadway musicals as well as deliver a joyous night of theater.”

November 2010 - The Australasian premiere kicked off in Sydney, Australia.

“An off-Broadway hit … [it] is a rollicking ride on (as one song says) ‘this side of the tracks’, carried along with gusto by a vocally strong ensemble and a country-rock, blues and soul soundtrack.”

April 2011 - Coronado Playhouse in Coronado, CA.

“Laughter is in fairly short supply these days. “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” will increase your total considerably.” - San Diego Gay and Lesbian News

October 2011 - The French-Canadian adaptation, Ma Femme, Ma Blonde et Ma Roulotte premiered in New York. 

“Adapted into the French often heard on the streets of Montreal, the show retains the hilarious essence of its original American tale of a sordid affair between an exotic dancer and a married toll collector. This Quebecois take will have you laughing and shouting "Tabarnak!" before you know it!”

November 2011 - San Diego Repertory Theatre’s production in San Diego, CA.

The San Diego Union-Tribune said this “gleefully tacky [production] cracks open its share of guilty pleasures, catchy tunes, snarkily polished choreography and savvy laugh lines.”

August 2012 - Kokandy Productions presented the musical in Chicago, IL. 

The Chicago Sun Times called it a “truly hilarious, winkingly low-brow show that contains enough talent to ignite the coldest coals on a rusty barbeque.”

Sept 2012 and July 2013 – Production by 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa, CA.


The shows "love triangle, with its hilarious low-rent twists, has a lot of heart, a lot of dysfunction and snappy, crass, funny songs you’ll find yourself humming on the way home.”

July 2013 - Standing Room Only Productions in Houston, TX. 

Broadway World called the show: “witty and boisterous entertainment” that is “heartfelt and endearing […] while causing the audience to mirthfully roll with enthusiastic laughter at its pervasively glorious and tremendously funny moments.”

April 2014 - Presented by the Rockville Theatre Company in Gaithersburg, MD.

“Performed by an amazingly talented cast, the show is heart-warming, funny, and light-hearted.” – MD Theatre Guide

 September 2014 - Production by Los Altos Stage Company in Los Altos, CA.

RegardingArts.com called it “a lot of fun, and [it] offers audiences about lebenty-seben chances to laugh out loud.”

February 2015 - Circle Arts Theatre in New Braunfels, TX.

The production featured “some well-done physical comedy, [clever choreography…] and an off-kilter energy that suits the show.” – San Antonio Express-News
